“That’s a covered-up Swastika isn’t it?” I thought to myself.
After a quick check on Google…yup, indeed it is.
The Charlottenburg Finanzamt (Tax Office) was built between 1936-1939, and given it was constructed during peak ‘evil Nazi bastard years,’ it’s no surprise that the front door was adorned with a Reichsadler and Swastika.
But what do you do about the embarrassing symbol after you lose the war?
Well, you just cover it up with the house number and hope nobody notices…
P.S. The building is located on Bismarckstrasse, so we’re getting a complete “German history bingo” with this one.
P.P.S. As per Nazi tradition, the building is obviously bursting with concrete.
