Stolperstein Sunday – Richard & Alfred Tworoger

Father & Son Stolpersteine stories.

Usually Stolpersteine give only the basic facts about a victim; such as their name, year of birth, and sadly, more often than not, the year and place of their death. But sometimes Stolpersteine will give more explicit details about a person’s fate.

Alfred Tworoger was only 22 years old when he was picked up off the street by Gestapo agents and taken to the Berlin police headquarters on Alexanderplatz for questioning.

According to a statement made by a detective who knew Alfred’s family, it was alleged that Alfred jumped out of a window after being interrogated by the Gestapo, and he died from his injuries on the 15th of May 1943.

Following Alfred’s death, his father Richard went into hiding, remaining there for the remainder of the war until he was liberated by the allies.

He stayed in Berlin after the war, opened a textile shop, and died at the age of 81.
